We are motivated by our passion for beauty and willingness to meet our Customers and partners’ needs and demands.

We undertake and deliver a wide range of   garments and accessories through the exquisite industry of Crochet and Hand knitting.

With over 25 years of experience in the hand knitting and garment manufacturing industry, Dilhani saw a dearth of expertise in the field and the potential this industry has to offer. Even though skilled based work such as hand knitting and crocheting is threatened at present, it is a deeply rooted craft in the Sri Lankan community which provides a significant income to those involved in this home-based industry. With the right support and commitment to learn this unique craft, one can be secured in the field in a short span of time. 

Knitro was founded in 2011, with a clear vision to introduce expert hand knitters and enhance their potential. Our journey was no easy task, Knitro had the challenge of making amateur young females working towards producing export quality Knitwear and accessories in a short period. Almost 10 years now, there are many regional knitting centers across Sri Lanka with over hundred hand knitters steadily contributing to dress our international Customers elegantly. Our regional centers are located in Colombo, Kandy, Galle and Jaffna. 

Knitro is built on social responsibility as the primary focus. After the 23 yearlong Sri Lankan civil war was ended in 2009, Knitro contributed directly to create a group of hand knitters in city of Jaffna with the aim of enabling them to have a steady livelihood. 

Knitro was instrumental in carrying out the very first training sessions on hand knitting together with the Academy of Design (AOD) Sri Lanka in this severely affected area. To date we have proudly trained over 50 young females in the war-torn Jaffna city, situated in the northern part of Sri Lanka. Communication due to the language barrier was one of our main challenges, however; Dilhani and the team managed to overcome this and accomplish our goal. Knitro is particularly proud of this and demonstrates that no barrier is too small to overcome.

After 10 years now, we see fruitful results as they contribute to this industry immensely.
